comprises 349 hectares (862 acres) on the border of Montgomery and Radnor. The farm lies between 300 and 500 metres and is within the 'less favoured area' status which attracts hill farming financial support.

The cheerful and busy market towns of Rhayader and Llanidloes provide most of the weekly supplies of the family and farm at Cefn Llech.

The homestead is central to the farmland. The river Dulas, a tributary of the River Severn, winds it's way through the valley. Old Sessile oak woodland and heather clothe the steep valley sides. The high hill pastures provide splendid views of Mid-Wales.

Cefn Llech has been farmed by the family for forty five years. Local contractors are increasingly used for shearing, hedge maintenance, silage making and manure handling.

The farm has been selected as the organic development farm participating in a project aimed at proving techniques and profitability of quality beef production in Wales.

The family won the Agri-Environment Award for Wales in 1998, given jointly by the Countryside Council for Wales and the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society.
